The month of February is all about love and members of First Presbyterian Church Nashville are loving large.
On Sunday, February 3, the youth of our church collected coins and dollars of all denominations in support of Souper Bowl of Caring. Inspired in 1990 by this simple prayer, “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat,” youth across America have mobilized in a united effort to care for people in their local communities who are hungry and in need. Since that simple prayer, ordinary young people have generated an extraordinary $90+ million for soup kitchens, food banks and other charities in communities across the country. FPC Nashville Youth collected over $2,000 following the morning services at the church this year; all donations will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
Children and families of the church and early pre-school will continue the effort this month with a collection of peanut butter to be donated to Second Harvest. All are encouraged to join in by bringing their favorite style of peanut butter to the decorated collection bin at the entrance to the Children’s Ministry area. Will there be more jars of smooth or crunchy peanut butter this year? You vote with your donation!
