20,000+ Meals in Two Hours

Stop Hunger NowIt took just over two hours and in that time the 100+ folks gathered on a Saturday afternoon at the Robert Ellis Middle School in Hendersonville, TN assembled and packed 20,000+ meal packets filled with soy flour, rice, dehydrated vegetables and vitamin packets. These packets will be sent to the international partners of Stop Hunger Now in one or more of 76 countries across the globe.

This mission service project was a joint effort of First Presbyterian Church Nashville and New Creation Church Hendersonville and provided a fun and lively multi-generational service project for all ages.  This was the first meal packaging project in the Nashville area for Stop Hunger Now and we are hopeful there will be many more to come.

Stop Hunger Now meals pack a big punch. Every dehydrated rice/soy meal is fortified with 21 essential vitamins and nutrients. Research has shown that one in three people in developing countries are adversely affected by vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Addressing the problem of hunger is the single point where we can leverage relief for all humanitarian issues.

The packaged meals will be delivered to school feeding programs at international partners working to provide sustainable,  lifelong change. Providing a hot meal during school gives parents an incentive to send their children to school. Through receiving a primary school education, the cycle of poverty can begin to be broken by leveraging change in many other issues including education, maternal health, childhood mortality, gender equality and combating HIV/AIDS.
