Lunch for the Homeless

Downtown Presbyterian Church, Nashville, TNDowntown Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church have both long focused on many similar mission outreach areas, and so it was natural they should partner in caring for the homeless men and women who are concentrated in the downtown community. Beginning in 2001, First Presbyterian Church agreed to pay the expense for food and to furnish volunteers to serve lunch to Nashville’s homeless in the downtown area on the second Wednesday of each month.

Most of the year adults serve as volunteers, but summertime is a wonderful opportunity for the youth of our church to provide the service. Families are welcome to volunteer with their children/youth as well, provided the children are at least age 11 or older.

Volunteers are needed to serve from 12:00-1:15 P.M. with a need for a few early-arriving volunteers who can assist with last-minute set-up tasks beginning at 11:30 A.M. Use the entry door on the left side of Downtown Presbyterian Church leading to the kitchen/dining hall area.

Volunteers may sign up for all 12 months of the year or selected months only as your schedule allows.

Parking is available for no charge at nearby  surface lots – instructions will be provided with monthly reminder email.
