Serving Others

To Exhibit His Love through Service

The Adult and Local Mission Committees develop service opportunities to increase awareness of the church family’s involvement in missions. The links below will direct you to various opportunities for you or your children, both here in Nashville and beyond.

Our committees seek both short-term service opportunities as well as those with ongoing needs that enable the development of longer term relational partnerships. Extended building projects have included mission trips to Jamaica, Haiti, Mexico, Belize, Rwanda and Kenya. A relational trip is made each year to Cuba as well. Depending on availability of medical staff, the church sends a mission team to the Dominican Republic to serve in San Juan de la Maguana near the Haitian border.

High atop scaffoldingLocal service projects have included home builds with Habitat for Humanity, Affordable Housing and the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee. Other hands-on service ministries include the weekly hosting of 14 men through Room in the Inn each Wednesday during the months of November – March, the feeding of the homeless on the second Wednesday of each month at Downtown Presbyterian Church and a bi-monthly dinner for residents of Nashville’s only shelter for homeless families, Safe Haven Family Shelter.

Additionally, First Presbyterian Church hosts semi-annual blood drives enabling members to give a personal gift of life to those in need.

Join us as we seek to exhibit His love through service and pray for God’s guidance about your participation.
