Local Ministries

Below is a list of local mission ministries that are supported by First Presbyterian Church. These partners minister to a very wide and diverse cross section of our community with services focused on housing, hunger alleviation, elder care, addiction issues, homelessness, youth development and spiritual growth. The recipient organizations/projects are carefully selected each year following an intensive evaluation by the church’s Local Missions Committee and reflect our congregation’s response to meet some of  the most pressing needs of our local community.

Benevolence Assistance is offered to church members who encounter times of financial difficulty due to unexpected job loss, sudden medical bills, etc. and need help with food, utilities and rent/mortgage. Bags of staple food products are also on hand to anyone who comes directly to the church requesting assistance. Pastors also offer counseling and prayer.

Hope and Life Ministry was founded by Wayne and Mary Bratcher, a husband and wife team, following God’s call to evangelize, counsel, provide assistance and demonstrate the Christian life to the East Nashville community and in local prisons. This is accomplished mostly on a one-on-one basis for a sharing of God’s truth.
