2008 Youth Trips
The Great Escape was a great experience for me to grow in my faith and friendships. I was afraid of what it would be like because I hadn't been on this trip before, but when I got there I loved it. The sermons were incredible. The content of the sermon and the interactive way she told it was inspiring. Some of the speakers used Scooby Doo as part of the theme for camp. The theme of the week was "Identity," and finding out your relationship with God and that you belong to him. The band was amazing. They sang the Christian songs that you hear on the radio and also sang songs of their own. The music was really loud and energized you.

Every morning we had small group time. We had different topics to discuss based on the morning sermon and the group leaders helped us to understand it better by going over some of the verses. Before the evening program each day we had 'quiet' time where we would pray and talk to God. We also worked in our program booklets and read our bibles.

Family time was a time at the end of our day when our church group came together and talked about the good things that happened that day. It was fun to hear everyone's stories. I want to thank the leaders for giving us the opportunity to come on the trip. They gave up a week with their families to be with us and we love them for it.

I was sad on the last day because we were going home. I didn't want to leave because it was such an inspiring trip. It definitely helped me grow in my faith. I made new friendships and got to know more of the kids from our church. Also, on our last day we went rafting down the Ocoee. It was an adventure and it took a lot of teamwork and corporation with others on the raft. Some people fell out of their boats; others did not, but be certain that we all got wet!

Lee University was beautiful. It was a great trip and I will never forget it. I will definitely want to go on it next year. I would encourage others who have never been on this type of trip or away from home to go to Great Escape next year. You will grow in your faith and make memories that you will have forever. I will never forget this trip!
