2008 Youth Trips

The Chattanooga mission trip definitely caught me by surprise! I didn't really know what to expect, because I had never been on a mission trip before. As far as I knew it was just a vacation of hard labor and back pains. But it was much more than that. It was a chance to reach out to people in need and be the hand of God. This trip brought me closer to my church friends and even closer to God. As soon as we got to our camp we were divided into groups. Each group was assigned a different work spot, doing different jobs. Working on the houses in the hot sun was definitely the hardest part of the week, but getting to know the widows and hearing their stories made it all worth it. One of my favorite memories was our always heading to Sonic. We went there almost everyday! I am proud to say it was marked as the First Presbyterian Church's spot. Each morning, after breakfast, we would have quiet time. This time was devoted to God and his word. I'll never forget all the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches we ate, the friends we made, and finding Christ through everything we did. ~ Keely Shearer ~ Class of 2012
