2007 Youth Trips
Thirty-four rising ninth graders and seven leaders spent a week working with Widow's Harvest Ministry in Chattanooga, TN. Son Servants puts on the trip and it was fun meeting kids from all over the southeast. We were divided into work groups, with one or two other people from our youth group in each work group.

We did a variety of things for many local widows: some of us roofed; some painted; some cleared yards; and some of us cleared out a basement worthy of a horror movie! We worked from about 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day and it was a hot week! Each day we had a break at lunch and enjoyed our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and shared questions with our work group.

Our group stayed at Harrison Bay State Park where we had time for fellowship and evening worship. We stayed in rustic cabins and we had showers with (sometimes) running water. The park has a wonderful lake that provided some much needed cooling off!

A highlight of our week was a Thursday night carnival at an inner city church. We staffed four booths for the kids that were attending the Vacation Bible School that Son Servants puts on during the week. We enjoyed getting to know new people and sharing Christ's love with each other and some new friends. After the carnival, we attended a worship service at the church.

We were blessed to be able to serve, see Christ in others, and to bond with each other. Our days included quiet time, afternoon free time, and family time after the big evening meeting. Some of us helped Big Daddy in the kitchen and some of us helped with Vacation Bible School. There were many ways to serve during the week!

Friday afternoon, we had the chance to tour Ronald McDonald House in downtown Chattanooga and enjoy some free time at Coolidge Park. Our week ended with a great whitewater rafting trip on the Middle Ocoee.

We are so thankful for this chance we had together and we look forward to more fun, service, and fellowship as we journey together into high school!
